POSITION SCOPE
Scherrer Assistant Project Managers assist Project Managers with activities from bid to closeout and maintain good relations with the project team for our commercial and residential construction division. They are responsible for coordinating and assisting with various tasks, including buyout and scoping of subcontractors, obtaining permits, and writing subcontracts. The Assistant Project Manager will also review submittals, ensure compliance with contract documents, and analyze change documents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage subcontract scopes, schedules and performance.
- Manage project schedule, including troubleshooting and taking necessary action.
- Manage issue resolution, including timely recognition and action.
- Take lead in analyzing change documents, obtaining pricing, time impacts and assemble price change orders.
- Assist with jobsite supervision, as needed.
- Verify material deliverables and installed work.
- Assist in project quality assurance and quality control.
- Participate in jobsite safety including meetings and walks.
- Participate, lead in assigned elements of project closeout.
- Professionally represent the Scherrer Construction team and brand.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in all phases of the construction process (preconstruction/construction management), minimum 2+ years.
- Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
- Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented and task-focused.
- Computer proficiency using industry-standard software and applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with estimating carpentry, concrete, and masonry a plus.
- Must be a committed team player.
- Scheduling software, Procore.
