POSITION SCOPE

Scherrer Construction’s Eagle River, WI office has an opening for a Senior PM / PX focusing on residential and commercial construction projects. You will assist in preconstruction and manage several construction projects simultaneously. These projects can vary in size, scope, and duration from $100k to $20M.

Scherrer Project Managers plan, direct and oversee our diverse construction projects. They are responsible for ensuring that all work complies with quality, schedule, and budget according to the project scope and requirements. Project managers are the main source of communication between the internal team, partners, subcontractors, and owners, to ensure the project is progressing on schedule and within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in sales efforts
  • Assist in estimating projects effectively
  • Assist in the bid process
  • Prepare schedules for individual projects
  • Forecast all project schedules collectively to allocate resources and manpower effectively
  • Assign manpower for self-perform trades on a weekly basis
  • Manage costs and forecast profitability for each project
  • Manage Owner expectations and relationship throughout the project
  • Manage multiple projects in various phases from bid to closeout.
  • Manage a project team including superintendent, architect, PC, PE, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Develop and manage owner relationships and maintain and expand relationships with current and future clients, architects, consultants and other business and community organizations.
  • Manage and evaluate bids including pricing and scheduling.
  • Plan and manage self-performed trade work (concrete, masonry, and carpentry) and assist with production studies.
  • Negotiate subcontracts.
  • Assist with conceptual and schematic level estimating.
  • Manage the Owner Contract – including negotiations and draft development.
  • Manage project schedule including building, updating, troubleshooting, and taking required actions.
  • Lead job progress meetings, subcontractor coordination, RFI, PCO and change order generation.
  • Co-manage jobsite safety with superintendent.
  • Adhere to contracts, local ordinances, and industry standards through constant quality control.
  • Track and report project profitability.
  • Issue Resolution - timely recognition and action, ensure full resolution.
  • Manage billing, change management, costs and profitability, documentation.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in estimating, scheduling, and cost control.
  • 5+ years of working knowledge in construction project management, field engineering, or estimating.
  • Experience in all phases of the construction process (preconstruction/construction management). (5+ years)
  • Ability to lead and manage project teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, communications and conflict resolution skills.
  • Advanced relationship building and development skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Must be a committed team player. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in luxury residential construction.
  • Experience with estimating carpentry, concrete and masonry.
  • Understanding of software, including Procore, on-screen takeoff (Planswift), Primavera P6, and Bluebeam.
