Modern maintenance facility will help power the next generation of reliable water utility operations in Kenosha.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 13, 2026
KENOSHA, WI – July 13, 2026 - Construction is underway on a new $2.7 million maintenance and vehicle storage facility for the City of Kenosha Water Utility, a project designed to expand the utility's operational capacity and support the city's growing infrastructure needs.
The project, located at the existing Kenosha Water Utility campus at 4401 Green Bay Road, officially began in late June 2026 and is expected to be completed in February 2027. Scherrer Construction is serving as the project's general contractor, with Donohue & Associates serving as Engineer of Record
The new pre-engineered metal building will provide approximately 8,000 square feet of modern space dedicated to vehicle storage and maintenance. The facility will feature five service bays, a workshop, storage area, electrical room, restroom, multiple vehicle lifts, and a bridge crane system to support maintenance operations. The project also includes site improvements surrounding the building to enhance functionality and accommodate the expanded facility.
The new building is being constructed alongside the Water Utility's existing facilities, allowing day-to-day operations to continue uninterrupted throughout construction. The investment addresses the Water Utility's need for additional operational space while positioning the department to better serve the community for years to come.
"This project is about investing in the future of Kenosha's essential infrastructure" said David Bower, Senior Project Manager at Scherrer Construction. "We're excited to partner with the City of Kenosha on a facility that will strengthen daily operations and support the important work of the Water Utility for decades to come. Our team is excited to help deliver a building that will have a lasting impact on the community."
Scherrer Construction will oversee construction through its anticipated completion in February 2027, coordinating closely with the City of Kenosha and the design team to safely deliver the new facility while maintaining ongoing operations at the existing campus.
