OVERVIEW
The Golden Years Walworth project in Walworth, Wisconsin involved the strategic renovation and conversion of existing assisted living space into a Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF), enhancing both privacy and functionality for residents. This healthcare renovation reflects our expertise in senior living construction and adaptive facility upgrades throughout Wisconsin.
The project transformed seventeen resident rooms with shared bathrooms into seventeen independent suites, each featuring a private, fully accessible bathroom. This conversion significantly improved resident comfort, dignity, and compliance with CBRF standards while modernizing the overall living environment.
In addition to the room reconfiguration, the project included renovations to key communal spaces. The activity room, rotunda activity area, and dining room were updated to create brighter, more welcoming gathering spaces that support engagement and daily programming. A new living room was also constructed to provide additional common space designed for relaxation and social interaction.
Our team oversaw the design-build mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) coordination, ensuring seamless integration of upgraded systems within the existing structure. Collaboration with Groth Design Group supported a coordinated design approach that balanced operational requirements, regulatory standards, and resident-focused design.
The completed renovation strengthens Golden Years Walworth’s ability to provide high-quality senior care in a modernized, thoughtfully designed environment tailored to the evolving needs of the community.

"Scherrer Construction’s experience in managing large projects as well as building custom homes was a huge asset to our project as there were strict healthcare requirements that needed to be met, but we also wanted our building to look and feel like home. There were many suggestions and custom touches that they brought and their attention to detail was a significant part of the construction project’s success."
